I took the opportunity to watch the Bet awards and I really enjoyed them. There was plenty of people tweeting, hash tagging and so on. There was one thing in particular that I didn't particularly care for, and that was a poll taken by Power 98 a local radio station in my area. The poll asked who was better, Nikki Minaj or Iggy Azalea. Your OPINION on who you thought was better is just that, YOUR OPINION, no one cares!
What bothered me the most was the way people, mainly women, tried to tear down Nicki Minaj. Why do we as women tear down one another just because we may not agree with what that person does? So what if her butt isn't that actual size so what if she wanted to go with an "Alice In Wonderland" theme that's the theme SHE chose. Hell that's her imagination, her craft from which HER talent stems from.
I think Lionel Richie and Pharrell said it best when they said each person is different and he or she brings their own talent to the same craft. This allows individual artists to be perceived as unusual or odd. However it’s those same differences that actually make artists unique. Who we are, allows us to be comfortable in our own skin, and even though you may not be able to identify with it there are others that can.
I personally feel that discrediting another person is a reflection of that persons own insecurities. Which is only done in efforts to make themselves feel better. At the end of the day Nicki Minaj is a brand so apparently she is doing something right and if you are a person, sitting at home with no ambition, drive or absolutely nothing positive happening in your corner, I am going to have to ask you to have several seats! No I'm not a fan but I recognize the strength and talent that she has. So let’s give credit where it's definitely due. Mom always said: "IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY THEN DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL!"
